Features and Benefits
2DIVE is a two Person Submarine for private, touristy or scientific use. The boat has more than 150 test dives without any problems. The boat was built in 2002 and finished in 2003. It was taken to Croatia to meet an underwater artist and make some underwater video productions . In 2004 the boat was tested in the Baltic Sea and in 2005 it was again brought to Croatia, where it spent two weeks for testing and guest tours. In 2006 the boat was presented in Copenhagen and took part at the private submarine convention of small submarines in Europe. In 2007 the boat was used for submarine tours in the Baltic Sea near Kiel, Germany. The builder is a Kieler ship civil engineer He built a submarine in simplest way - and explored the underwater world of Baltic Sea and Mediterranean. Vessel operates from small lever left from its seat, in order to flood the lift tanks at the exterior of its submarine. While it becomes wet outside, one sits comfortably in the dry and watches. The boat and its passengers are now part of the underwater world. Vessel can be launched at any time. Weighs approximately two tons. If one takes the leads out, the mass reduces to a ton. The vessel can be loaded with a crane. Owner: "I wanted it to be as simple as possible", "everyone should learn in shortest time to drive" Vessel is already in the fifth year of use. 2000 working hours and approximately 40,000 euro are into it. The submarine Plexiglas domes allow for spectacular views. The Baltic Sea is not spectacular because of the small range of vision. "The boat is rather meant for the Mediterranean area." The trunk of is 32 millimeters thick, glass-fiber reinforced plastic. "The boat gets over a positive pressure of 45 bar", says the ship civil engineer. That corresponds about to depth of water of 450 meters. "One could go thereby on depths from 80 to 100 meters". It dips however usually only ten meters deeply. The lift tanks, which are filled to the dive with water and for emerging with compressed air, seize 250 litres. Four small tiltable electric motors provide for thrust, not only forward, but also downward or above. Under the drop-shaped, yellow trunk altogether 900 kilograms leads hang. "the largest problem is, two cubic meters of air under water to wars", therefore the lead. The ballast serves also security. If vessel - for whatever reason - should not emerge, a diver could pull the leads from the container under the boat. The boat is very safe: Also, the more than hundred employments showed this. "The only problem, which can occur: The boat gets tangled at the soil." For this case a safety diver should be ashore. "in any case of emergency the crew can flood the boat and get out." With ten meters depth is not that a problem, insures the ship civil engineer. For security you should always be in constant radio communication. The marker, which is connected with the submarine, serves as antenna at the surface. Special batteries, whose energy for four to five hours continuous operation of the engines is enough. If one turns the drives on only occasionally, one can remain quite twelve hours under water. One must carry only enough oxygen and lime cartridges forward, with which the CO2 from air is bound. "the boat is driving license-free and needs no permission."
