SOUTHLAND, a leader manufacturer in Canada, earned recognition for its original products at the Toronto International Boat Show. SOUTHLAND now offers teak and mahogany on its pontoons, a first in the industry. SOUTHLAND furnishings made of teak or mahogany include tables, handrails, footboards and the deck.

Signature SOUTHLAND

For nearly five years now, SOUTHLAND’s industrial designer has allowed the brand to remain unique and further enhance Signature SOUTHLAND thanks to her flair for innovation. “Why not offer real teak and mahogany instead of cheap imitation?” is what she wonders.

For this reason, she called on the co-operation and expertise of LES BOIS DE L’EST who, for the last 10 years, have specialised in manufacturing and installing furniture and decks made of teak and mahogany, including for the boating industry.

High Value

Through the years, the pontoon industry has continuously added equipment and refined its products. Pontoons now offer a level of comfort and luxury matched only by their convenience. The time had come to design these crafts with materials that increase their value significantly. Teak and mahogany are luxurious and attractive. They are also easy to recycle. In addition to being dignified and welcoming, teak and mahogany age beautifully and are easy to maintain. Finally, they are very comfortable. Walking on a teak deck, and feeling its warmth is practically therapeutic.

Longevity

Tables and decks made of teak or mahogany offer almost unlimited longevity. The rubber fasteners holding each slat making up the deck are heat and water resistant. Developing this fastening material required years of research to make sure temperature fluctuations and water contact would alter neither its properties nor its appearance.

Setting You apart

The addition of teak and mahogany to the options list is simply another step in SOUTHLAND’s well-known policy promoting customisation. The client can go to the company’s website and click on the “Customize your pontoon” section in order to choose the desired length, model, colour and even optional equipment of the pontoon.

After third-tube performance (as seen in the “Video” section of the website), teak and mahogany are now available, evidence of the continuous improvement SOUTHLAND brings to its product line.

Thanks to almost 16 years of development, SOUTHLAND is proud to have contributed this advancement in water sports and opened possibilities for even more development.
