Sarasota Yacht and Ship Services would like to announce new officers of the corporation

Sarasota Yacht and Ship Services, Inc. would like to announce new officers of the corporation are Gary C. Smith, President and Jason E. Mashke Executive Vice-President. Both Smith and Mashke are full partners within the organization.
Former President and partner Douglas C. Mashke, Sr. relinquished his ownership position but will continue in a sales capacity. Mr. Mashke was President of SYSS for over 23 years and held several other prior positions within the marine industry. The current board, employees and sales team professionals of SYSS would like to sincerely thank Doug for all of his years of professional dedication to the company and the industry. In addition to sales duties he will remain in a valued advisory role. Mr. Mashke holds the designation of Certified Professional Yacht Broker. Doug has been in Sarasota since 1955. Prior to founding SYSS, he was the owner/operator of a 200-slip marina, selling new and used boats and at the time, was the largest service boat yard in the area. The marina serviced all brands and was the largest Californian dealer in the country for 4 years. Doug credits his yacht brokerage success to his experiences while in the Marina business.
Jason Mashke is a native of Sarasota and has been with SYSS since 2004 and was very excited to return home to the sunny West Coast of Florida. Jason completed his graduate studies in the summer of 2000 after earning a Master's degree in biology and became a consultant to the Department of Transportation in states throughout the Southeast. Jason's studies have helped him gain an intimate knowledge of the sea which has furthered his appreciation for boating. Growing up around boats and the water, a career allowing Jason to remain involved in boating was a logical progression. Jason is an avid SCUBA diver and holds several certifications including Nitrox diver, Divemaster, Rescue diver, and Underwater naturalist. "It has always been a dream of mine to carry on in the footsteps of my father by making boating a career," Jason is a Certified Professional Yacht Broker.
Gary Smith moved to Sarasota in 1999, and came on board with Sarasota Yacht and Ship shortly afterwards. Prior to coming to Sarasota Gary founded and operated one of the largest travel companies in the state of Louisiana offering motorcoach tours and travel, as well as several full service travel agencies. Gary is an active alumnus of LSU and participates in many events within the organization. He serves as a board member of the Florida Yacht Brokers Association and the Certified Professional Yacht Broker advisory Council. He is a lifetime boater, SCUBA diver and avid aircraft enthusiast. In the late 90's along with his family, Gary cruised in the Bahamas, the Eastern Caribbean and headed as far south as South America, spending over a year cruising aboard the Motor Yacht, Lady Alistina. Having a passion for yachting, he became one of the first in the state to obtain his Certified Professional Yacht Broker designation.
