The MRP Group, co-organiser of the Moscow Yacht Festival in Russia, has revealed that the show's managing director, Nikita Gorchakov, is to serve as CEO of the third Moscow festival in June. As a result, Gorchakov has stepped down from his position as marketing director of MRP-owned Timmerman Yachts, a leading manufacturer of superyachts, in order to focus on preparations for this year's show.

"Nikita Gorchakov has done a lot for Timmerman Yachts. He has led the brand through start-up to international recognition," says Timmerman president Dmitry Mironenkov. "However, holding positions of marketing director of the consortium and managing director of the festival might cause a natural conflict of interests in future, because despite the fact that both projects are carried out by one holding, MRP group, they are absolutely independent."

The 2007 Moscow Yacht Festival, which runs from June 21-24 at the Gorky Park moorage in Neskuchny Sad, is expected to draw the largest number of participants in the show's three-year history. In 2008, the four-day festival will be held not only in Moscow but in a number of major European cities as well.

Gorchakov was chosen to serve as CEO due to his extensive experience and first-hand knowledge of the yachting industry. According to MRP, special attention will be given to the organisation of the Moscow show as well as its international projects. "Management of the MRP Group considers the annual yacht festival to be a first-priority project," says Roman Trotsenko, president of MRP. "The festival has achieved international status this year, so it requires a new level of organisation and additional resources."
