Marine industry veterans contracted to support WoodenBoat Show
4/8/2005
Karla Little managed the Newport International Boat Show for fifteen years before establishing KL Communications in 2001. Her company now owns and produces the Fine Furnishings Providence Show and provides conference and show services for such clients as the Automobile Club of America, the Furniture Society, Mercedes Benz and the New England Flower Show. Karla researched and prepared a comprehensive marketing plan for this year’s WoodenBoat Show that included recommending Leslie Lindeman as marketing director.
Leslie brings more than twenty-five years of marketing experience to her new position. In the marine industry she has worked as marketing director for O’ Day Yachts, charter manager for J-Class Yachts, and advertising director for Prindle Catamarans. Her working relationship with Karla began in 1990 when she assisted with marketing the Newport International Boat Show. Her consultancy has worked on promotional activities for many other clients in the marine business including the International Yacht Restoration School, the Museum of Yachting, Newport Shipyard, Pearson Yachts, and Carroll Marine.
The WoodenBoat Show presents traditional classics and contemporary wooden boats of every type: cruising yachts, launches, runabouts, fishing boats, performance powerboats, daysailers, dinghies, rowboats canoes, performance shells, and racing boats of all kinds. Some represent centuries of evolution and traditional application while others have been developed to take advantage of today’s technologies in adhesives and coatings. Large and small; old and new; power, sail, oar and paddle, will all be on display at the Newport Yachting Center in Newport, Rhode Island. Show dates are August 26 – 28, 2005.
