STEVENSVILLE, Md. – Feb.9, 2009 – Since installed on the MY Lady Joy, the award-winning air-purification system, Nautic Air™, has dramatically reduced the levels of airborne allergens throughout the boat’s interior.

“The common issue of clean air is a topic I know affects both crew and guests alike and I am happy to say a solution has been found and really works,” said Michael Lovely, captain of MY Lady Joy. “Where before there was sometimes the smell of dampness or prepared food coming from the galley, we onboard this fine Christensen yacht have enjoyed good health and odor-free air since the system’s installment.”

“Mold spores and airborne allergens are a common problem on boats which have a closed-loop HVAC circulation,” said Heath Schuman, president of Schuman Nautic Air. “Even the finest, most well-constructed yachts can be affected.”

Nautic Air fitted more than 30 of its air-cleansing units on the 157-foot(47.85-meter) motoryacht in a move to improve air quality by eliminating airborne allergens throughout the vessel following an initial trial of several units in the master stateroom.

The Nautic Air system uses a proprietary combination of ultraviolet light and Titanium Dioxide to produce hydroxyl radicals, which reduce mold, bacteria, viruses and other volatile organic compounds in the air. The totally "green" system emits no ozone or other environmentally harmful by-products. In-line modules can be installed quickly and easily into existing HVAC ductwork.

“The system is easily maintained with a once-a-month inspection that takes five minutes,” added Lovely. “The equipment is silent while operational, is of sound construction with quality material and is small enough to fit in most overhead liners and wall space cavities designed for air supply units. All owners want their investments protected and this system assures them that the air they breathe today will be as clean and odor-free as the day they first stepped onto their yacht.”

Peter Palmieri, owner of Map Restoration Inc., performed the pre- and post-installation air-quality tests onboard the MY Lady Joy and was surprised to find the mold count dropped to zero after running the new Nautic Air system only a few hours. “I have been conducting mold testing for over five years and know that it is very rare in the mold industry to get a "zero" reading. This result even surprised the lab,” stated Palmieri. “In fact, they called me and stated how impressive the results were and also stated that an operating room in a hospital often registers at four times this level.”

Nautic Air™ award-winning air-purification system The Nautic Air product was recognized by the National Marine Manufacturers Association as one of the most innovative new products of the year at the International Boatbuilders’ Exhibition (IBEX) in October 2008.

Designed by Christensen Yachts, MY Lady Joy was launched in 2007 and appeared in Power & Motoryachts’ "100 Largest Yachts" list in both 2007 and 2008. The yacht also won the prestigious "Best Series Motor Yacht Interior" award for 2008 from ShowBoats International. The master stateroom suite is on the main deck, and the other six cabins, including two king-size staterooms, are below deck. Located throughout the interior are museum-quality art pieces from the owner’s private collection. The yacht is on charter in the Bahamas, Caribbean and Mediterranean.
