Bay Ship & Yacht Completes Refurbishment on Red & White Fleet's Harbor Queen Ferry
Alameda, CA, May 21, 2009 - Red & White Fleet's Harbor Queen returned to service this monthferrying commuters and tourists between Alameda, Oakland and San Francisco following routine preventative maintenance and standard US Coast Guard inspections conducted at Bay Ship & Yacht in Alameda, CA.
Bay Ship & Yacht's team of expert machinists, tradesmen and painters performed the routine inspections, maintenance and repairs in adherence to US Coast Guard specifications to ensure that the Harbor Queen, a two-deck, 300 passenger ferry, meets the stringent requirements for the safety and comfort of its passengers. Harbor Queen was also given a beautiful new paint job to withstand the daily abuse from weather, currents, corrosive waters, and performance demands to which Bay Area ferries are subjected.
All work was completed on-site at Bay Ship & Yacht's Alameda waterfront location, utilizing many of Bay Ship & Yachts departments and services. Bay Ship & Yacht's facilities include drydocking capabilities for large vessels up to 2800 Tons and 120 Meters (400 ft), a 1200 Ton and 61 Meter (200 ft) Syncrolift with berthing for multiple vessels ashore, a machine shop, fabrication shop, pipe shop, joinery shop, paint shop, propeller shop, and a full service naval architecture and marine engineering department.
