Bay Ship & Yacht's 1200-ton Rolls-Royce Syncrolift installation complete
11/21/2006
Bay Ship & Yacht's Syncrolift(r) is equipped with four full-length railway tracks which transit from sea onto dry land. Modular cradles support the vessel's hull and are equipped with four-wheel rail dollies to facilitate transfer. Once lifted out of the water, the vessel is rolled ashore on transfer rails to its pre-assigned berth. Several outside berths will be ready for service in November, each with a capacity for a 62 meter (200 ft.) vessel. Each berth is equipped with its own Dedicated Service Center (DSC). The DSC provides each berth with its own host of services including compressed air, cooling water, full electric distribution (including 50Hz and 60Hz services), telephone and high-speed internet access and waste water disposal facilities.
"Working with Rolls-Royce Marine has really helped us to improve our tonnage capacity and maximize the use of our land-based production area," said Bill Elliott, General Manager and President of Bay Ship & Yacht. "In addition, we are looking forward to dramatically increasing our ability to better accommodate our customer's needs with more flexible scheduling and additional "out-of water" services.
Bay Ship & Yacht serves the superyacht market with 1200 feet of shore side berths and one floating dry dock with a capacity of 2800-tons. With the addition of the Syncrolift(r), Bay Ship &Yacht will have an additional hoisting capacity of 1200-tons.
"By adding the additional shore berths, we are able to offer our customers a complete line of services including year round hull and top-side painting, major refits and more flexible and timely scheduling," said Alan Cameron, Shipyard Manager of Bay Ship & Yacht.
"With our location on beautiful San Francisco Bay, we are the perfect destination for superyacht owners and crews to dock for extended repairs and upgrades while enjoying the sights and local attractions of Northern California."
Bay Ship & Yacht offers a complete range of refit and repair services. The added capacity and updated facility translates into higher customer satisfaction by incorporating flexible scheduling for maintenance haul-outs, repairs and emergency services.
About Rolls-Royce Marine Syncrolift(r)
Readings can determine the load distribution profile of the vessel and location of its longitudinal and transverse centers of gravity. Atlas can also show how the vessel is sitting on its blocks and acts as a condition monitor for all major components within the system. A transfer system then allows ships, or ship sections, to be quickly moved around the shipyard.
