Description

Long a world leader in the design, engineering, and construction of quality motoryachts and convertibles, Hatteras began operations in 1960 with the Hargrave-designed Hatteras 41 Convertible, the first all-fiberglass sportfishing boat her size in the industry. Additional designs quickly followed, and by the late 1960s Hatteras was offering a full line of models including the largest production fiberglass motoryacht then available, the Hatteras 50 MY. The 1970s and 1980s saw Hatteras evolve into the undisputed leader of production convertibles and motoryachts in the industry. (Note that the company also offered a line of displacement Long Range Cruisers from 1975–85.) The market soon demanded bigger boats, and so the Hatteras sportfishing fleet expanded–first to 50-foot boats and now up to 90-foot convertibles. Hatteras also began designing and producing a line of cruising yachts that now ranges from 63 to 100 feet in length. Now owned by industry-giant Brunswick Corp., Hatteras remains one the the nation’s premier builders of large production convertibles and motoryachts.
