Recovery of US Airways Airline Flight 1549
On January 15th, 2009 - a miracle occurred!
US Airways Airline’s Flight #1549 crashed and landed in The Hudson River and miraculously, all onboard where alive!
Soon after the flight's take-off, a flock of birds crossed the airliner's path. The birds were sucked into the massive engine, damaging the engines severely. The engines started to lose power and the horrific, yet unbelievable, journey began.
The plane was going down.
The very brave and very heroic Pilot thought fast and decided to put the plane down on the only flat area nearby in New York - The Hudson River. His name is Chesley Sullenberger. He navigated the plane so precisely, that somehow he managed to bring the plane to a splashing halt. Soon after the plane stopped, it drifted down the river like a runway barge. The passengers were seeking shelter fast upon on the wings of the slowly sinking plane.
Soon after, many nearby ferries and rescue workers witnessed what just happened and rushed to bring everyone to safety. Later that day, the jetliner sunk to the bottom of The Hudson River.
Now it was time to retrieve the plane from the icy water of The Hudson River. Divers dove in the frigid water and placed heavy duty straps around the tail-section and underneath the bottom of the plane, next to its wings.
