| From the first order in 1953 ("Handle attached to a punt" was noted in the order book) via the construction of small craft and motorboats through to the super yachts of the current century, JONGERT has come a long way. However, this has been a voyage consistently inspired by an attachment to water, unshakable enthusiasm and the boundless determination to satisfy the customer's wishes and dreams. By moving on to the legendary Trewes and Zwalker yachts of 1964-75, the business - moving to Medemblik in 1960 - trimmed its sails for success. More and more staff were taken on, and the next Jongert generation came onto the scene - in more senses than one. Firstly the sons Kees and Jan entered their father's business; and, secondly, a new yacht generation, the JONGERT Traditional Line, was created. This marked the start of the JONGERT brand. With skill, creativity and the enthusiasm demanded by the product, two Jongert generations over a period 50 years have built up the shipyard with its workshops, design offices and subsidiaries into a model enterprise that has become a hallmark of progress and growth in international yacht-building. It is only fitting, then, that the newshipyard in Waterpark Wieringermeer, built to the most advanced standards in yacht building went into full operation in 2003. |
