Vessel Overview |
GITANA was designed by Sparkman & Stephens and built in 2000 by Director Shipyards as an extremely fast sailing yacht, with simple sailhandling systems and absolute comfort on deck and below. These goals were well accomplished in her original design, then under her present ownership the yacht has had an extensive refit that included a completely new cockpit design and also put all systems; machinery, paint and soft furnishings into top condition. |
Cockpit and Deck Arrangement |
In 2008 GITANA received a complete re-design of her cockpit arrangement, expanding the on deck seating aft and outboard to enlarge the guest cockpit and dining areas. Both helm stations were re-worked to include navigation equipment at each, which allows clear thoroughfare to the afterdeck and opening transom steps, aft. The result is an extremely comfortable area forward, with a teak drop leaf dining table to port that seats six, with a drinks refrigerator below. To starboard is a second settee with coffee table. The entire area is protected from the sun and elements by a new bimini with integral lighting and full side curtains when desired. |
Pilothouse |
The low profile Pilothouse aboard GITANA is three steps down from the guest cockpit, with a full dining table to port, that comfortably seats eight, with 360-degree visibility through the lightly tinted windows. To starboard is a full navigation table and complete instrumentation, and a leather helm seat. The Pilothouse steering station has engine pitch and thruster controls, autopilot control head, plus full engine monitoring panel. Steering is by joystick or autopilot control head, all instrumentation set flush in console. It has two screens for navigation, radar, monitoring of ships systems, computer functions, word processing and e-mail. |
Main Salon |
The Main Salon aboard GITANA adjoins the pilothouse immediately forward, below the large forward facing pilothouse windows, which enhances the sense of spaciousness. The salon has an entertaining and lounge area to port with wrap around settee with storage outboard and beneath. There is a port facing settee on centerline that completes this gathering area, with a coffee table at center. To starboard in the Salon is a full- length china stowage locker, refrigerator, wet bar and icemaker with marble counter tops installed in 2008.

The Port Guest Cabin and ensuite head is identical to the Starboard Guest Cabin except the berths are fixed. Each cabin has a 20" flat screen TV/DVD, which drops down from the overhead. |
Exercise / Dayroom / 4th Guest Cabin |
Located next to the Master Cabin is an Exercise/Day Room/ 4th Guest Cabin with lift-up settee or pilot berth, with lockers forward and aft, and TV forward. An exercise treadmill is hidden below the floor, with easy access by folding the berths/settee away. The day head also serves as an ensuite head for this cabin.
